
"Tullio Julius Saffiotti passed away peacefully on October 28, 2016 at his home where he has lived with the love of his life for over 50 years. Tullio was born February 6, 1927 in Mazara del Vallo, Sicily, and moved to Baton Rouge in January of 1964 to marry his wife, Eleanora Bologna Saffiotti. Prior to coming to the United States, Tullio attended the University of Palermo in Sicily. He worked in the wholesale wine and liquor industry in Louisiana for over 45 years until his retirement at the age of 82. He was passionate about his family and was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. Tullio loved to cook. Sunday dinners, cooked by him every week for decades, combined his love of family, food and wine. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Vincenzo Saffiotti and Dr. Anna Dado Saffiotti, as well as his sister, Rose Patera, four brothers, Aldo, Armando, Ettore and Vincenzo Saffiotti, a step brother, Giacomo Saffiotti and a step sister, Vincenza Saffiotti. He is survived by his devoted wife, Eleanora Bologna Saffiotti, his children, Giuseppe (Joseph) Saffiotti, Anna Hingle, Vincent Saffiotti and Eleanor Saffiotti, his daughter in law, Karen Saffiotti and son-in-law, Stewart Hingle, his four grandchildren, Kristyn Saffiotti, Megan Saffiotti, Kenneth Hingle and Lauren Hingle, together with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Special thanks to Carmen Dillon and Joann Braxton for the care given in his last days. Pallbearers will be: Gino Marino, Paul Bologna, Scott Calais, Steve Staples, Kelwin Clark, and Kenneth Hingle. Honorary Pallbearer: Bryan Del Bondio. Visitation will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Baton Rouge on Monday, October 31, 2016, from 9:00am until a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Baton Rouge. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Baton Rouge Food Bank or Our Lady of Mercy Church.
