

Van Anthony Guarino, age 76, passed away at his home in Central, Louisiana on Saturday, November 29, 2014. A native of New Orleans and born on St. Patrick's Day, Van was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed working in his yard and spending time with his family and friends. Van was a happily retired banker of 35 years and a faithful parishioner of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Van is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Artina Rae Noto Guarino; children, Henry Guarino and Denise Kennedy, Van and Laura Guarino, and Judy and Anthony LoBue; grandchildren Rae Anne Firmin, Pete Joseph and Marlana Firmin, Rachel and Joe Johnson, John Firmin, Amy LoBue, Madison Guarino, Savannah Guarino, V.J. Guarino, Billy and Natalie Neck, and Kenny Neck; one great-grandchild, Kaylynn Grace Neck and many more to come that will honor and remember his legacy. Van also leaves behind one brother, Bobby McGuire and wife Sylvia, and sisters- and brother-in-law Nettie McIntosh and Larry and Bertha Mancuso as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Van is preceded in death by his parents, Vic and Mickey Guarino; parents-in-law, Henry and Mary Noto; and brother-in-law Michael McIntosh. Visitation will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East on Monday, December 1st from 2:00pm-9:00pm and again on Tuesday, December 2nd from 9:00 am until 12:30pm at which time we will leave in procession to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00pm officiated by Rev. Mike Maroney. Burial will follow at Roselawn Gardens of Memory. Pallbearers will be Van's grandsons. In lieu of flowers, if you would like, you may send a donation to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital or a charity of choice in loving memory of Van Guarino.
