
Early Wednesday morning, Oct. 20, 2010, our mother was called home to her heavenly Father. A loving and generous mother, she led her life devoted to Our Lord Jesus, her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. To her family and friends, Mom was a beautiful example with her enduring faith, which she lived daily and loved deeply. She was born Dec. 9, 1927, in Chicago, and grew up in the Philippines Islands, China and Washington state before moving to Baton Rouge in 1947. V.J. worked in the Chancery Office of the Diocese of Baton Rouge and then as secretary at St. Michael's High School. Preceded in death by her daughter, Anne Victoria Roy Buhler; parents, Lt. Elias Daigle, U.S. Navy (Ret.) and Lillian Daigle; and husband, Lynwood J. "L.J." Roy Sr. She is survived by a brother, Lt. Cmdr. Noel A. Daigle, U.S. Navy, (Ret.), and wife Marguerite Bozeman; four sons, Lyn Roy and wife Becky, Chris Roy and wife Mickie, Pat Roy and wife Arlene, and Jeff Roy; daughter, Mary Lisa Roy McMinn; 17 grandchildren, Matt Roy and wife Lindsey, Leah Roy Moran and husband Dwayne, Elizabeth Roy Digirolamo and husband Cory, Mary Alice Roy, Derek Roy and wife Dawn, Erica Roy, Tyson Roy, Heather Lantier Craig and husband Josh, Heidi Lantier Mauro and husband Robert, Hailey Lantier Haynes and husband Cody, Beau McMinn, Kellie McMinn, Brett McMinn, Abby McMinn, Lauren Adams, Colin Roy and Brennan Roy; and 11 great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Audrie Roy, Payton and Paige Moran, Mallorie and Eli Digirolamo, Zachary and Christopher Caswell, Drew and Cameron Craig, and Riley Haynes. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Sunday, Oct. 24, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a rosary at 7:15 p.m. Visitation resumes at the funeral home Monday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., followed by a funeral Mass at 1 p.m. at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, conducted by Monsignor Robert Berggreen. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice.
