
A resident of Baton Rouge, he was born in Plaquemine, on Oct. 15, 1923, to Ignace Vincent Macalusa and Eva Haynes Macalusa. Preceded in death by his parents; sister, Josephine; and brother, Ignace Jr. He was a retired carpenter and a devoted family man who served as a baker in the U.S. Navy in World War II on the USS Hornet. He was a parishioner of St. George Catholic Church for more than 50 years, where he served as an usher and volunteer. His love of cooking was enjoyed by many volunteer organizations. Vince is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carrie Caracci Macalusa; four daughters, Linda Paille, Rosemary Enlow, Pamela Taylor and Rosalyn Holland; son, Gary Macalusa; two sons-in-law, Joseph Paille Jr. and Dwain Holland; seven grandchildren, Joe III and Jodi Paille, Jason and Michael Enlow, Jennifer Chick and Chad Taylor and Amanda Holland; and nine great-grandchildren, Christian Tarver, Zachary, Joe IV and Justin Paille, Logan Enlow, Jacob McGehee, Caroline Chick and Preston and Riley Taylor; sisters, Rosalee LaFrance, Mary Grace Polito, Lola Ancona; brother, Carroll Macalusa; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Joseph Paille III, Jason and Michael Enlow, Chad Taylor and Ruark Chick; and great-grandson, Jacob McGehee. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Tuesday, Oct. 28, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting at St. George Catholic Church on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m. Entombment in St. George Church Mausoleum.
