"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day - and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing." 2 Timothy 4:7-8
Walter Hurlemann, native of Switzerland and resident of Baton Rouge, passed from this life into his Heavenly home, on February 26, 2023 at the age of 98!
An accountant by trade, a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ, he lived and worked for 10 years in Africa in his younger years.
After retiring from his profession he married Heidi Ruppeiner and proudly became an American citizen in 1995. Walter had a full and rich life, even after the death of his wife Heidi in 2014. He spent his day in prayer, writing weekly poems based on a bible verse, reading and memorizing scripture, and corresponding with his many friends here and abroad.
With the help of his loving and faithful caregiver, Janet Sagona, as well as his caring neighbor, Jackie Charles and many others that loved and cared for him, he was able to continue living on his own, doing what he loved best until the Lord called him home, where he no doubt heard "Well done, good and faithful servant."
