Walter Loclon Smith, III beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away on Friday July 4, 2025. He was born in Baton Rouge, LA to Walter Loclon Smith, Jr. and Adeline Landry Smith on March 20, 1952. Walter attended Jefferson Terrace Elementary School, Glasgow Junior High and Robert E. Lee High School, where he met his future wife, Carol. Walter then received his Bachelor's degree in Marketing from LSU in 1975 and Juris Doctorate in 1980 from LSU Law School. Thereafter, Walter was in private practice of law until his retirement in December 2019. Walter is survived by his loving wife, Carol Lambremont Smith; his sons, Bradford Loclon Smith (wife Haylie Nola Smith) and Matthew Benjamin Smith (wife Leah Waters Smith); and grandchildren: Bradford Loclon Smith, II, Collin Ruth Smith, Allyson Marie Smith, Caroline May Smith, and Annie Jane Smith. He is also survived by his sister, Jan Smith and brother Ray Smith (wife Carolyn Smith) and sisters-in-law, Suzanne Lambremont (husband Rob Jesson), Barbara Peters (husband Warren), Y Lambremont. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, John Lambremont, Jr., Chad Smith, Paul Lambremont, Sarah Lambremont Christakis, Lauren Peters Mitchell, Ryne Smith, Elizabeth Call, and Lewis Peters. Walter is preceded in death by his parents, Walter Loclon Smith, Jr., Adeline Landry Smith and his brother-in-law, John Lambremont. Walter's grandchildren were the light of his life, and he enjoyed every opportunity to spend time with them. He was an avid LSU baseball and football fan. In the later years he enjoyed taking Loclon, a huge LSU baseball fan, to LSU baseball games. Walter has been blessed with many close friends for many decades, and they have enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing together. Walter and Carol attended The Chapel on the Campus many years, until they joined Community Bible Church. Walter has an abiding faith in God through Jesus and was not afraid to leave and go to the other side. Walter's family would like to thank Dr. Roy Cullota and Dr. Michael Yorek for their care over the years, and Hospice of Baton Rouge, Nurse Debbie, Aide LaMarla and the entire staff at the BR Hospice Butterfly Wing for their care during the last few weeks. In lieu of flowers, Walter said he would appreciate any donations be made to the Community Bible Church Missions Fund. Visitation will be on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd, from 5pm until 8pm. Visitation will resume on Friday at Community Bible Church, 8354 Jefferson Hwy, from 1pm until service at 2pm. Entombment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park Mausoleum.
