

Wanda Faye Hebert “Tootie” Caffarel a Smoke Bend native and resident of Grosse Tete, LA, Wanda Faye Hebert “Tootie” Caffarel passed away peacefully on her 95th birthday, September 15, 2025. Tootie worked for many years as a retail clerk and was known for her kind spirit and quiet strength. She loved watching tennis and had a passion for collecting birds, a hobby that brought her great joy. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Pete Caffarel; her parents, Audrey Hebert and Aline Guedry Hebert; her sister, Virgin “V” Stewart (Jack); her brothers, George Hebert (Miriam) and Karl Hebert (Nola); sister-in-law, Mona Noble (Joe); brother-in-law, Calvin “CJ” Caffarel; niece, Pamela Stewart; nephews, Danny Stewart, Joby Noble, and David Noble; and numerous nieces and nephews. Tootie is survived by her devoted children, Suzanne "Sue" Persick (Bryant) and Johnny Caffarel (Kelly); her cherished grandchildren, Kayla Caffarel and Ryan Persick; and her loving sister, Rena Lee Dupuy (Wayne). She will be deeply missed by extended family and friends. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Friday, September 19, 2025, from 9:00 AM until the Recitation of the Rosary at 10:30 AM. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to her caretaker, Tan Johnson, who stayed by her side until the very end, as well as Nurse Annette Barlow, Aide Annette, Social Worker Shelly, and the entire Pinnacle Hospice team for becoming like family and offering unwavering love, support, and compassion.
