
William Edward Atchison, a resident of Baton Rouge, 83, died at home surrounded by his loved ones and sweet friends on Thursday, March 12, 2015. William was born September 2, 1931, in Bessemer, AL. He was graduated from McAdory High School in McCalla, AL, and later from University of Auburn. He served in the U.S. Army at Fort Belvoir, VA, during the Korean War. He was a Chemical Engineer who worked for Kaiser Alumina in Baton Rouge, Gramercy, Sydney and Gladstone, Australia, and Jamaica. He was a dedicated Scout Master who founded Troop 178 at Broadmoor United Methodist Church in 1956. An avid fan of LSU athletics, he also loved fishing and telling fish stories, and spending time with his family and many friends.He is survived by his children, Doreen and Ron Taravella, Diann and John White, and Lance Atchison, and by his remarkable granddaughters, Victoria Taravella and Kate Atchison, and by his brother, Bruce Atchison. He was preceded in death by his wives, Jane Taton Atchison and Gloria Jeanne Atchison. Visitation will be held at Rabenhorst East Funeral Home on March 15, 2015, from 4 to 6 pm and on March 16, 2015, at 1 pm followed by the funeral service at 2 pm with interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Boy Scouts of America, Istrouma Area Council, 9644 Brookline Avenue, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, 70809.
