He retired from Diamond Offshore Drilling after 37 years of service. He will be remembered as a loving, loyal LSU fan.
William is survived by his wife of 59 years, Frances “Fran” Lindsey Cherry; daughter, Claudette Cherry; sister, Shelia Cherry Ener; brothers, Ernest Cherry, Mike and wife Marla Cherry, all from Honey Island, TX.; brother and sister in law, Kenneth and Dale Lindsey of Baton Rouge, LA; sister in law, Vernell Boyd of Pinehurst TX.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death are; parents, Homer and Eunice Cherry; brothers, Douglas, Homer Jr., JL and Charles Cherry and one sister, Anne Rachel Cherry.
Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, on Monday, May 7 from 5:00-9:00pm. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, May 8 from noon until service time of 2:00pm. Interment will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
