
William L. "Bill" Fremin passed away Sunday, July 19, 2009, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born in Plaquemine on Nov. 18, 1939, to Lawrence Paul Fremin and Margaret Robeau Fremin. He lived most of his 69 years as a resident of Baton Rouge. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Tuesday, July 21, was from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary led by Knights of Columbus Council 4030 at 7 p.m. Visiting on Wednesday, July 22, at St. Joseph Cathedral from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Jerry Martin, celebrant. Interment at Greenoaks Memorial Park. Survived by his wife of 44 years, Joan Waguespack Fremin; daughter, Melinda Barrios; son-in-law, Jamie Barrios; daughter, Christy Olsen; son-in-law, Navy Lt. Eric Olsen; five grandchildren, Bailey, Gillian, Chandler, Parker and Cameron; brothers Larry Fremin and David Fremin; and sisters, Ethel Pruet, Marilyn Chaney and Frances Gore Herrara. Pallbearers will be Mark Perry, Darryl Brown, Christopher Brown, Glenn Conques, Jamie Barrios and Eric Olsen. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Dodge, Don Cox, Charlie Deshotels, Ron Galbo and Louis Rogge. Upon graduation from Catholic High, he served in the U.S. Coast Guard. After attending LSU, he began a 32-year career with Gerber Baby Products. His service and charity to all were boundless. Bill was a life member of the Knights of Columbus and knighted to the 4th Degree. He served as president of the Jones Creek Business Association and was a member of the Baton Rouge Area of Traveling Salesmen, Capital City Lions Club, Inter-Civic Council of Baton Rouge, and Southeast Lion's Club. Bill was a devout Catholic and passionate about LSU and sports. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. He was a lover of golf having two witnessed "holes in one" on March 26, 1977. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and loyal friend who will be missed by all who knew him.
