

William R. Simon, Jr. (Bill or Billy to most) was in a fatal car crash on January 9, 2013 caused by inclement weather. Bill is from Baton Rouge, Louisiana where he was born on April 17, 1964. Bill grew up in the Baton Rouge area and attended Greenbriar Elementary, Park Forest Middle, Belaire High and Central High Schools, and is a graduate of LSU. He was employed by RTUI in a regional sales position and held a ccim designation in commercial real estate. Bill was a past member of the Baton Rouge Jaycees of which he was president and won national awards for his motivation and accomplishments within his club. Bill belonged to the Baton Rouge Food Bank where he sat on the board. He had a strong since of community and liked to stay involved in and support local events. Bill is survived by his two sons William Michael Simon and Adam Mitchell Simon;his father William R. Simon, Sr. and his wife Peggy Simon; his mother Melody McCrary and her husband Billy McCrary. Bill is also survived by his maternal grandmother Phyllis Hunter and step grandmother Sarah Longino. Bill leaves behind his loving siblings, Angie Simon, Greg Simon and Chris Simon and wife, Herpreet. He also has two step brothers William McCrary, Jr. and Raymond McCrary. He has 4 neices, Jennifer Long, Heather Boudreaux and husband, Jake Boudreaux, Rebekah L. Strickland and husband, Keith Strickland and Megan N. Swanford; a nephew Desmond Simon and 5 great nieces. Bill also leaves behind his beloved sweetheart Beth Soileau. He is also survived by numerous loving aunts, uncles and cousins in Texas, Oklahoma, Florida and Colorado. Bill has been preceded in death by his maternal grand-father, Tommy O. Longino and step grand-father, Travis Hunter; his paternal grandparents, Henry Simon and Barbara Simon. Bill also lost his beloved canine Rock, who was cremated and will be buried with him. Bill has touched the lives of many people in the Baton Rouge area and beyond. His deep passion for music is common knowledge, along with his love of art, dancing and the rich heritage of south Louisiana. Bill was an avid athlete and outdoorsman that loved nature. Bill leaves behind and countless friends that will miss his infectious smile, good nature and love of life. Even though we know he is now dancing with the angels his presence here will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.The wake will take place on Sunday January 13, 2013 from 5pm to 9pm at Greenoaks Funeral Home. A church service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, January 14, 2013 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church on Greenwell Springs Rd. with a viewing prior at 10:00am. Service will be followed by a procession to Greenoaks Memorial Park where Bill will be laid to rest. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Baton Rouge Food Bank in honor of Bill Simon Jr.
