

William A. Winters, Jr., age 76, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Our Lady of the Lake Medical Center. Born in Millport, Alabama, he was a long time resident of Baton Rouge. Bill was an active member of Comite Baptist Church and its music ministry. He was enthusiastic about football, baseball and basketball and acted as coach and mentor to many. He was a man with great passion in everything he did and lived life to the fullest. Through his great storytelling and practical jokes, he spread laughter and joy with all those he encountered. Few people on Earth served and loved their families and friends as he did. Much of his life was spent in service to God and his church. His legacy will forever last in memories of all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Peggy Atchley Winters; daughters Tracy Pourciau and her husband Chuck Pourciau, and Kelly Byers and her husband John Byers; sons Michael Winters and his wife Faith Winters, and Mark Winters; grandchildren, Jessica Willis, Casey Richards and husband Stephen Richards, Leigh Pourciau and Lara Winters; great grandchildren, Breanne Dupuy and Aaron Richards; sister Elizabeth Owens; brother Johnny Winters. He is preceded in death by his parents William A. and Eunice Winters and son Joel David Winters.
