

"William Eric Wright, a native of Chester, England and a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on September 10, 2016, at the age of 86. He was a recipient of Masters + from the Royal Institute of Chemistry; a fighter pilot for the Royal Air Force; and winner of Aerobatics Competition while training for the RAF. He was also a Grand Life Master in Bridge, and led Bridge games at St. James Retirement Community for many years. From 1959 - 1963, he was a Supervisor for Shell Oil Company in Manchester, England; and from 1963 -1990, he was a Senior Research Specialist at Ethyl Corporation. From 1990 - 1999, he was a Polyolefin Consultant Exxon Baton Rouge Polyolefin Plant (BRPO). From 2000 - 2001, he taught High School Chemistry; from 2001 - 2003, he was a Chemistry Instructor at LSU; and from 2003 - 2008, he was Adjunct Professor of Chemistry at OLOL College. In 2008, he became a full-time Visiting Professor at OLOL College, continuing as such until 2012; and from 2012 - 2014 he was a Tutor of Chemistry. He participated on the team that produced polyamides for NASA; and was a Senior Author of approximately twenty U.S. and U.K. patents. A beloved husband, he is survived by his wife of 61 years, Nadine Wright of Baton Rouge, LA; daughter, Alison Singelyn and her husband Scott Singelyn of Grosse Ile, MI; daughter, Joanna Lynch and her husband Phillip Lynch of Mandeville, LA; son, Noel Wright and Kathy Flud Eaton of New Orleans, LA; and daughter, Charlotte Wright of Baton Rouge, LA. He is also survived by grandchildren: Connor and Bennet Singelyn, Taylor Lynch and wife Monica Lynch, Daniel Lynch, and Haley Wright; sister, Doris Davis of Chester, England; and a brother-in-law, Jeff Green of Fort Myers, FL. He is preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Gwendolyn Wright of Chester, England; sister, Jean Green; and brother, Dennis Wright. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016 by The Rev. Ralph F. Howe, Jr. at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., at 1pm, with a reception following.
