
The retired owner of Rester Refrigeration Service and a resident of Baton Rouge, he died at 1:20 a.m.Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at Our Lady of theLakeRegionalMedicalCenter. He was 97 and a native of Varnado. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with Masonic Rites at 7 p.m. Visitation at Goodwood Baptist Church, 7125 Goodwood Ave., on Friday from 9 a.m. until religious service at 10:30 a.m., conducted by the Rev. James Riley. Entombment will follow inGreenoaksMemorial Park. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Barry B. and Ginger Robertson Rester and Daniel K. and Tammy Holyfield Rester; sister and brother-in-law, Odell and Norman Henry; sister-in-law, Elva Rester; five grandchildren, Tracie Anne Rester Cupit and husband Conrad, Kelli Lynne Rester, Danielle Alexandra Rester, Annie Laurie Rester and husband Tommy Thompson and Winston Wesley Rester II; two great-grandchildren, Trinity Rester-Maedgen and Jordan Conrad Cupit. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Doris Lowe Rester; parents, Joseph and Nettie Wheat Rester; brother, Juel John Rester; six sisters and brothers-in-law, Edith and Roy Norton, Dolly and Felix "Shorty" Bergeron, Alta and Jimmie Walker, Aliwee and Earnest Ray, Thera and Marion Austin and Bernice "Buncy" and Vernon Causey. Pallbearers will be Barry B. Rester, Daniel K. Rester, Winston Wesley Rester II, Tommy Thompson, Conrad G. Cupit and Richard A. Campbell. Honorary pallbearers are all the former employees of Rester Refrigeration Service. He was a charter member ofGoodwoodBaptistChurch, a member of Trinity Union Lodge 372, F&AM, Lions International and a Shriner. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his name be made to the Building Fund atGoodwoodBaptistChurch.
