"Yasuo Namba, 65, of Baton Rouge, LA, departed the universe unexpectedly on August 28, 2018. He was born in Amagasaki, Japan to hardworking parents and raised in Takarazuka, Japan. His mother worked as a midwife/nurse and his father worked as a civil engineer. Later he received a B.S. in Applied Physics from Hokkaido University, and received a M.Ed.+30 in Science Education from Louisiana State University. He shared his extensive knowledge of physics, other sciences and mathematics through his diligent work as an educator at McKinley High School for 25 years where he taught countless students. During his time on planet Earth, his fascination of the universe led him to explore a vast array of subject matters including ancient Asian art, history, literature, old movies, kendo, soccer, drawing and many other topics. He viewed everyone as somebody he could learn from and therefore valued every human interaction. Despite living in the United States for 42 years, he maintained a strong pride for his home country and visited his family in Japan frequently. As a husband and father, he encouraged, listened, and taught us many lessons which will guide us into the future. He will always be remembered as a brilliant, witty, creative, humble, loving and understanding husband, father, uncle, teacher and mentor. He is survived by his wife, Maria Sung-Jin Kim, two offspring, Erica Namba and Toshiaki Namba, sister, Mariko Hashimoto, and nieces and nephews. As a teacher and mentor, his mission was to encourage his students to fulfill their full potential. As a human being he always strived to always to "do the right thing" and to the best of his ability. We wish him a dear farewell from the cosmos. He will be greatly missed. The family held a private memorial on August 31, 2018.
