

Our beloved Zane passed away peacefully on Friday, May 6th with his wife of 33 years, Cindy, by his side. After his difficult battle with cancer, fought with fearless determination, Zane was granted his Heavenly Wings! Zane Mark Zeno was born March 4th, 1958 in Alexandria, LA and spent most of his life as a resident of Baton Rouge. Zane lived life to the fullest and was a loving husband, brother, uncle, and devoted friend to many. He was loved by everyone who knew him, never met a stranger, and was always ready for a good time! Zane’s outgoing and friendly personality along with his love for music and dance left a lasting impression on all! He was an avid LSU and Saints fan, enjoyed sporting events, fishing, travel, and attending various festivals and parades. He never missed his two favorites, Mardi Gras and Jazz Fest. He was a past member of Spanish Town and Endymion and supported many charities and organizations, such as, United Way, BR Food Bank, Disabled Veterans, and Fraternal Order of Police. He attended Woodlawn High and Tara High School, followed by Southeastern Louisiana University. Zane worked in his family’s business W-Z Sporting Goods from 1981-1988 and in the fall of ’88, began his 30 year career at FedEx where he retired in 2018. Zane’s gift to us was the goodness in his heart and a love for life. He will be dearly missed! He is survived by his wife Cynthia Slay Zeno; his father “Coach” John L. Zeno; sister Karen Zeno Malespin and Gus Malespin, niece, Megan Malespin; great-Nephews Harrison and Hunter Malespin and great-niece Hayden Holden, nephew; Marc Malespin and wife Lauren Malespin , great-nephew Maddox Malespin; brother Todd L. Zeno and wife Jennifer Posey Zeno; sister Melissa Zeno; sister Amy Zeno Waguespack and husband Thomas Waguespack, niece Kate Waguespack; brother-in-law Bobby Slay and wife Kim Slay, niece Amanda Slay Kaltakdjian and husband Serop Kaltakdjian, great-niece Eva Kaltakdjian; brother-in-law Dr. Chris Slay and his wife Cindy, niece Katelyn Slay Dedman and husband Frank Dedman III, great-nephew Frank Dedman IV, great-nieces Savannah and Sutton Dedman, nieces Christie Slay, Stephanie Slay; Godfather Michael Gauthier and wife Barbara Gauthier; cousins Mark Gauthier and wife Laura Gauthier, Dr. Craig Gauthier, Jill Gauthier Tullier and husband Dr. Kemp Tullier, Susan Gauthier Falgoust and husband Woody Falgoust; Suzanne Zeno Rollins, Carla Zeno John and husband Dr. Tommy John, Sherri Bozant Witt and husband Ron Witt, Tara Bozant Talbot and husband Ken Talbot.Zane is preceded in death by his mother Esla Gauthier Zeno; his paternal grandparents Carl and Hazel Zeno, maternal grandparents Elliott and Rita Gauthier; and Cindy’s parents James R. Slay and Theresa Slay.Visitation will be on Monday, May 16th at St. Jude Catholic Church 9150 Highland Rd. Baton Rouge, LA 70810 from 9:30 a.m.- 11:30 a.m.
with a religious service to follow.
