Afton Danyelle May

Afton Danyelle May, 32, of Mont Belvieu was born October 1, 1985, in Houston, Texas and passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at home. She was a 2005 graduate of Barbers Hill High School where she was a member of the choir and FFA. She was also a graduate of Providence Place in San Antonio, Texas where she majored in Culinary Arts. She was a member of MercyGate Church. Afton enjoyed cooking, making candles, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoyed watching all sports, especially the Astros. She loved to travel and looked forward to her frequent visits to the casino. Afton was a Barbers Hill Eagle through and through. She enjoyed supporting the Eagles at any event, especially sporting events. She loved Mr. Poe’s theater productions as well as helping Mr. and Mrs. Wilson manage the BH Ag Department. She formed many special relationships and had lots of supporters on The Hill throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, “Nig” Hill and “Buddy” May and stepfather, Pete Garner. She is survived by her mother, Jennie Garner of Hankamer; father and stepmother, Robert and Melissa May of Cove; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rance and Kelsey May of Austin, Porter May of Hamshire, and Parker May and Jacob and Abbey Joines, all of Cove; sisters, Keaton May of Hamshire and Mally May and Jocelyn Joines, all of Cove; grandparents, Marilyn “Nanny” Hill of Mont Belvieu and Martha “Memaw” and Curtis Dykes of Temple; aunts and uncles, Lori and Benny May of Mont Belvieu, Cheryl and Chuck Kutan of Baytown, Donald Lawrence of Mont Belvieu, and Larry and Laurie Lawrence of Hankamer; double first cousins Makenzi and Myles May and wife, Ashlee; cousins, Lana Lawrence, Lacy Hanf and husband, Clay, Ashley Ainsworth, Crystal Smith and husband, Trevor, Amber Janak and husband, Jared and numerous special friends and family.

Her family will receive friends Thursday, August 30, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Navarre Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday, August 31, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Pastor Donald Gibson officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarcrest Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Myles May, Mike Brown, Cully Smith, Rob Verret, Donald Lawrence, and Larry Lawrence.
