

Benjamin Lester Overmyer, Sr., 84, of LaPorte, Texas, passed away Monday, April 12, 2010 at the Memorial Hermann Memorial City Hospital in Houston, Texas. He was born February 26, 1925 in Logansport, Indiana to his late parents, John Overmyer and Elizabeth Miller Overmyer.
Mr. Overmyer lived most of his life in Indiana, was a longtime resident of LaPorte, a US Army veteran of World War II, a member of the Woodman of the world and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and loved farming and gardening.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty Jean Overmyer; grandsons, Don Overmyer and Mark Smith and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his children, Bonnie Smith and her companion Leland Breaux and Ben Overmyer, Jr. and his wife Susan; sister, Norma Jean Mitchum; brother, Jack Overmyer; grandchildren, Brad Smith and his wife Gloria, Jeff Smith and his wife Kim, Dawn Jasso and her husband Charles, Angel White and her husband Tracey, Brandy Pezzi and her husband Benny and Elizabeth White and her husband Jacob and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 15, 2010 at the Navarre Funeral Home in Baytown, Texas with Rev. Eddie Norris officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at the funeral home.
