

Berna Sales Hartless, 77, of Baytown, TX, devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, was born February 21, 1930 in Anahuac and went home to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, October 17, 2007 surrounded by her loving family.
She was a 1948 graduate of Crosby High School, where she was a drum major and was a longtime member of Eastside Baptist Church where she had many special friends. She was well known for her love of baking and cooking, which she generously shared with friends and family. Her hobbies included gardening, cross-stitching, and crafting. All of her friends and family will miss the special birthday cards that she so cleverly created. She loved to decorate her home for the changing seasons and was especially known for her Christmas house. Her cherished treasures were her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ethel Sales; beloved husband of 51 years, Wesley L. Hartless; and seven sisters and three brothers. She is survived by her children, Kerry Hartless and wife, Rebecca of Austin, Sheryl McConathy and husband, Mark of Baytown, and Susan Brewer and husband, Gene of Baytown; grandchildren, Heather Buchanan and husband, Jeff of Lufkin, Shannon Pogue and husband, Rodger of New Caney, Sara McConathy of Houston, Amy McConathy of Lindale, Matthew Grimes and wife, Ellie of Fort Leonard Wood, MO, and Adam Brewer of Houston; great grandchildren, Brylin Springer, Hayden Grimes, Haley Grimes, Chip Buchanan, and Blake Buchanan; sisters, Lois Evertson of Kerrville and Iris Hurst of Bastrop; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Dr. and Mrs. J. N. Chastain.
Serving as pallbearers will be David Washburn, Kevin Washburn, James Hurst, Mark Shepherd, Doug Wagner, and Greg Vornkhal.
Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Friday, October 19, 2007 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 20, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Brother Frank Biles officiating. Burial will follow at White Cemetery.
Her family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Mohamad Hameed, Dr. Pamela Medellin, and Dr. Farouk Barbandi for the exceptional care given their dear mother.
