

He was born September 3, 1947 in Orange, Texas to his late parents, Jack Methner and Elizabeth O'Rourke Methner, graduated from Bridge City High School and the University of Texas at Tyler.
Bill was a self-employed safety consultant, an active instructor for the Texas A&M Fire Training School and a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam Era. He had lived in Mont Belvieu for the last 25 years and enjoyed participating in poker tournaments, wildlife and was a sports fanatic
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Methner of Mont Belvieu; sons, Joey Methner and his wife Nicole of Chicago and Chris Methner of Mont Belvieu; brother, Dr. John Paul Methner of Hurst, Texas; sisters, Judith Shockley and her husband Donald of Bridge City and Mary Methner of Angleton and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Navarre Funeral Home with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m.
A gathering of friends will be immediately following the memorial service at Bill's home.
