

Bobby Joe Parks, 75, of Baytown was born August 26, 1931 in Tyler and passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2007 in a Houston hospital following surgery. Parks was the son of James W. "Blackie" Parks and Lillian Murphy Parks who predeceased him. He was a 1948 graduate of John Tyler High School and Kilgore Jr. College and spent his entire career in oil related services with supervisory responsibilities throughout Texas and surrounding states. He served in Japan as a member of the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict.
Parks was an avid sportsman and one of the founding members of the Dean Creek Hunting Club in Groveton. His greatest joy and life long hobby was cooking and he was well known for his “Road Kill” tamales. All who were privileged to know him knew that he possessed an infallible memory and sense of humor.
He is survived by his devoted wife and the love of his life, Lucy Sanders Parks; children, Judy Miller, Kathy Parks, and Joe Bob Parks; stepchildren, Kimberly Auzenne, Dina McCartney and husband Russell, and Carl Prince; sister, Pat O'Neal McCormick; brother, James Ralph Parks; ten grandchildren; two nieces; and one nephew.
Pallbearers will be Fred Burban, Shem Davis, Steve Barcik, Jim Peterson, Lance O’Neal, and Steve O’Neal. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Dean Creek Hunting Club.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday, April 30, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with his brother-in-law, Rev. Hugh A. McMurrain officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarcrest Cemetery.
