Billy Davis, 62, of Baytown was born June 18, 1945 in Columbus, MS to Calvin and Sally Davis, former owners of The Baytown Roller Rink and went to be with the Lord Wednesday, January 30, 2008 in a local hospital surrounded by his loved ones after a short battle with esophageal cancer that spread quickly to both lungs. He retired from Dow Chemical in 2002 as an operator. After retiring, he bought himself a brand new motorcycle and after that, he was unstoppable! Billy enjoyed hanging out at Rocky's Pelican Junction and other local hangouts where he met a host of wonderful friends who were all very special to him, especially Steve Stutes, who was with him from the beginning until the end. Prior to his retirement, he enjoyed fishing with his son Chad, and Joey Vogel, who he called his best friend in the whole wide world.
He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Chad and Shanah Davis and Dane Lee Davis; daughters, Keri Baldwin and her boyfriend, Allen Nieto and Sonja Kay Oakley; brothers, Terry Davis, Rodney Davis, and Shannon Davis; sister, Cheryl Ann Hattaway; and grandchildren, Courtland, Miah, Noah, ""pa-paws boy Navy, Jarrod, Kasey, and Marcus.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 4, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Ronnie Mills officiating. Burial will follow at White Cemetery in Highlands.
His family would like to extend a special thank you to Billy's doctors, Dr. Ghali, Dr. Dancel, Dr. Holoye and all of the staff at 2 South, who did everything humanly possible to make sure that their Dad had everything that he needed throughout his battle with cancer.
Dad, we will always love you!
