

Calvin Whitaker, 89, of Baytown passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014, in Baytown. He was born January 7, 1925, in Paoli, Oklahoma, to his late parents, James Claude Whitaker and Mary Florence Keener Whitaker.
Calvin moved to Baytown in 1946 and was a retired Long Range Planner from Exxon after 36 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church, served on the board for the San Jacinto Baptist Association, directed the Bus Department at First Baptist, was a member of the Good Sam RV Club, the MBA Board, Crosby Masonic Lodge and was a U.S. Army veteran.
Mr. Whitaker was also involved in the Exxon Annuitants Organization, organized the Dad's Club in Lynchburg, was an organizer and coach in the Highlands Little League, and was a member of the Highlands Senior Citizens Group and the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, and 7 sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Nadean Whitaker; son, Joel Whitaker and his wife Jan; grandchildren, Jeff and Mandi Whitaker and Jeri and Mitch Rossi; great-grandchildren, Braden Whitaker and Karli Whitaker all of Baytown; sisters, Penny Engeman of Denver, Colorado, Betty Shanahan and her husband Dick of Dallas and Weeta Tucker of Okmulgee, Oklahoma; brother, Stanley Whitaker of La Porte; and numerous nieces, nephews and many loving friends.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 14, 2014, at Navarre Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, March 15, 2014, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Yowell and Rev. Mike Habermehl officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Whitaker, Mitch Rossi, Braden Whitaker, Bruce Nelson, Jim Jeffrey, and Donnie Badgett.
Many thanks to nurses and all caregivers at Methodist San Jacinto Hospital, Houston Methodist San Jacinto Alexander Campus Skilled Nursing, Rehabilitation and Health Care Center at Baytown, Intermediate ICU at Methodist San Jacinto Hospital and Brenda Williams.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be sent to First Baptist Church Baytown.
