Carl Blanton Youngblood

Carl was born to Lee and Ora Youngblood at Timpson, Texas on May 6, 1925 and passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013. Carl grew up on a farm, working the fields along with his four sisters, Vera, Tennie, Margie and Yvonne. He finished high school at Huntington, Texas and served two years in the Army Field Artillery serving his country in the Philippines, Okinawa and Korea.

After returning home, he enrolled at Sam Houston State University and received a BBA in Business and a Master's in Business Education. While attending college, Carl worked to support himself and assist his younger sister Yvonne so she too could attend college. After graduation, Carl taught two years in Huntington before moving to Baytown where he taught four years at Robert E. Lee High School. He resigned from teaching in 1957 and started a new career in business at Arco Chemical in Channelview, retiring from Arco as Traffic and Statistics Supervisor after twenty-eight years of service.

Carl had four major hobbies: Travel, Golf, Swimming an gardening. Most of his traveling was done outside the U.S.A. and his favorite was an Around-the-World trip made in 1987. Carl loved to talk to people and could strike up a conversation with anyone, he never met a stranger.

Carl spent 31 years as a volunteer at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown. He and his dear friend, Max Hause, were the first male volunteers to work in that capacity in the Baytown Hospital.

He is survived by one sister, Yvonne Parkhill Fowler and eight nephews and nieces along with countless friends. He will be missed dearly by all.

Interment will be at Corinth Cemetery near Timpson, Texas on Saturday April 20, 2013 at 11:00 A.M., where a grave side service will be held and conducted by his nephew, Bill Hooker.
