She graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1948 with a Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration. Upon graduation, she began working at National Cash Register in the Human Resource Department.
After meeting the love of her life on a blind date, she married Robert (Bob) Côté on September 2, 1950. Their family quickly grew to include four ""little stair steps,"" so Carolyn became the devoted and dedicated wife and mother.

No matter where she lived, Carolyn always found time to be active in her children's activities including PTA, Cub and Girl Scouts, Little League and 4-H. She also enjoyed garden club, church activities, and the Bird and Bloom Club of Livingston. Her favorite pastimes included camping, tennis, golf, bird watching, shelling and travel. She was a member of Cedar Bayou Grace United Methodist Church and participated in the Crafty Critters group in the 70's and early 80's.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Newell A. Westenbarger, her husband of 63 years and her son, Toby J. Côté.
