

The family will welcome friends at Navarre Funeral Home in Baytown, Texas, on Tuesday, June 3 from 5-7 p.m. His funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 4, 10 a.m., at Navarre Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Alexandria Memorial Gardens, Alexandria, Louisiana, on Wednesday, June 4 at 3 p.m.
He was born in Pineville, Louisiana, on February 1, 1925, and has been a resident of Baytown, Texas, since 1952.
Jack served in the U.S. Army during WWII and later graduated from LSU in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering with an Aeronautical certification. He was a longtime employee of EXXON Baytown. Jack also taught for several years at Lee College and was a tutor and mentor to many young people who remained close friends for life.
He is preceded in death by his wife of nearly 60 years, Kitty, his parents and three brothers. He leaves a devoted family of sons and daughters-in-law, John Cantrell, Jack and Enid Cantrell, Dennis and Laurel Cantrell, and five grandchildren, one great grandson, his loving sister-in-law, Wendy Cantrell, as well as several nieces and nephews who benefited from many years of nurturing and support from both Jack and Kitty. His lifelong friend, Henry Williams and wife Carolyn offered their constant support and friendship through good times and recent challenging days.
Jack will long be remembered by all who knew him for his quick wit, ready laughter and warm and caring personality, as well as his love of flying and good jokes.
