Connie Darlene Baker

She was born in Abilene, Texas on September 5, 1931 to Connie Jackson Sanford and Viola Hawkins Sanford. Darlene married the love of her life Richard C. Baker in 1948 at the age of 16 after knowing him for a short time. They were married for 53 when Richard left for Heaven in July 2001. Darlene and Richard loved to travel and lived in several towns in the Texas Panhandle before settling in Lubbock and raising their 4 children. With all 4 children still at home, they embarked on their move to the Gulf Coast area of Texas and lived in Baytown, Mont Belvieu, Dickinson, and Pearland.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Connie Jackson Sanford and Viola Hawkins Sanford; her brother James C. Sanford, and her husband, Richard C. Baker Sr. Darlene is survived by her four children, Richard C. Baker Jr. and wife Kathy, Charlotte Baker Harris and husband Herschel, Cherri Baker Laughlin and husband Mike, and John David Baker and wife Jo Lynn; and 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held Thursday, July 6, 2017 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Earthman Funeral Home at 3919 Garth Road in Baytown, Texas. The Celebration of Darlene’s Life will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday July 7, 2017. Serving as pall bearers will be Cody Laughlin, Danny Harris, David Ramos, Dan Newell, Ricky Baker, and Mason Baker. She will be laid to rest at Earthman Memory Gardens Cemetery at 8624 Garth Road in Baytown, Texas 77521.
