Dana Pauline Standard, 76, of Baytown, Texas passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 19. 2019 at Swan Manor Assisted Living Facility after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born on September 16, 1942 in Salem, Illinois to parents D.V. Ott and Pauline Ott. Son’s note: “She was born a Yankee but got here ASAP and was a Texas lady through and through.” Yellow roses were always her favorite. Mom and Dad met at the Baytown roller rink on Knowlton in 1955. She said he was the best looking and best skater in the place but noticed a hole in his back pocket. That’s when she decided she needed to take care of him and fell in love for the rest of her life.
Dana (Nina) was a bookkeeper at the Baytown Sun and Trinity Assembly in Baytown. She retired in 2016 after years of faithful service. Her lifelong passions were her family and her faith. She treasured nothing more than time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She always made everyone she came in contact with feel loved and very special. Dana’s steadfast faith in a loving God sustained her through some very difficult times but she never lost her joy or sweet spirit. Even Alzheimer’s couldn’t steal her smile and loving nature.
Dana was preceded in death by the love of her life Tommy Standard, husband of 43 years; her daughter Jeanice Droddy; father D.V. Ott; brother Dale Ott; sister Lona Donlon and brother-in-law Robert Donlon.
