David was born in Dallas to his loving parents, David and Charlotte Wilson on May 1, 1971. David was a gifted artist and was accepted into Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. Although his talents were extremely gifted, he didn't feel like he belonged at a school full of “hippies”. David was more of a boots and jeans guy and felt more comfortable graduating from a ""normal"" high school which was W.W. Samuel. He attended college at Eastfield while working for El Chico as a server where he met his lifelong best friend, Chip Thomas. Together they worked and the two of them ended up as managers where they opened the store in Temple, Texas together. David later left EL Chico to pursue a career as a process technician where he worked for Lyondell for 16 years.
David loved to hunt and fish, and played a little guitar; he learned to play, “Hotel California”. Which we later found out that was the only song he knew how to play. He had many hobbies over the years, at one point he was kite boarding, then he became bored with that and started kayak fishing, he toyed with growing a garden, and then bought his ""midlife crisis"" Harley which he loved to ride. He had so many talents and so many hobbies, but his true passion in life was spending time with his children. He absolutely adored and loved his kids; Maddie, Austin and Reid. David loved kids so much that his home became a playground for all the kids in the neighborhood. Everyone that met David, loved him. He was a genuine, kind and loving man and always put everyone before himself.
He is survived by his beautiful children, Madeline Louise Wilson and David Austin Wilson and their mom, Jennifer Andrews Wilson, and Reid David Roy Wilson and his mom, Alyse Jenee; parents, David and Charlotte Wilson of Mesquite, TX; sisters, Ashley Wilson Wilcox and her husband, Joey and Heather Wilson as well as many nieces and nephews and a countless number of friends.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at Navarre Funeral Home on Monday, September 18, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. with Mickey Bertrand officiating. Burial will follow at the William Icet Cemetery in Cove.
