Dewey Rex Lyons

Dewey Rex Lyons, 78, a lifelong resident of Baytown was born in Baytown January 30, 1927 and passed away Saturday, July 9, 2005 in a local hospital. He was a retired advertising salesman and a member of Memorial Baptist Church, where he was an active member of their L.L.L. He loved to play board games, especially 42.

His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday, July 11, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Joe Tate officiating and Bill Lyons delivering a eulogy. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be David R. Garrett, Ron Lyons, Mike Ferrell, Emery Keith Lyons, Mark Tiller, and Michael Brandon Cooper.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Myrtie Peveto Lyons and Purl Monroe Lyons; wives, Willie Dee Russell Lyons and Dorothy M. Lyons; brothers, Keith Lyons and Kyle Lyons; and sister, Juanita Lyons Garrett. He is survived by his nephews and nieces, David Randall and Susan Garrett, Mark and Nan Tiller, Mike and Kay Cooper, Mike and Jeannie Ferrell, Wendall and Debbie Lyons, Emery Keith and Cathy Lyons and great nephews and great nieces, David Garrett, Daniel Garrett, Ashley Tiller, Spenser Tiller, Stuart Tiller, Brandon Cooper, Amber Cooper, Leah Cooper, Terri Ferrell, Michael Lance Ferrell, Trevor Ferrell, David Kyle Ferrell, Alison Lyons, Amanda Lyons, Matthews Lyons, Christopher Lyons, and Courtney Lyons.

In lieu of usual remembrances, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2433 Ridgemont Drive – A, Austin, TX 78754 and/or the Memorial Baptist Church Benevolence Fund, 600 W. Sterling Ave., Baytown, TX 77520.
