

Donald Leslie Kerr, 82, of Mont Belvieu died Sunday, December 4, 2005 at his home surrounded by his family and friends. He was born March 3, 1923 in Gonzales County, Texas. Donald retired from Exxon in Baytown, having worked in the Oil Movements Department for 34 years. He was an ordained deacon and member of Gum Grove Baptist Church in Dayton, Texas until moving back to Barbers Hill in 1992 to be closer to his children and grandchildren. He was currently a member of Old River Baptist Church.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 6, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Biddy officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarcrest Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Lonnie Fisher, Toby White, Tony White, Trevor White, Chris Johnston, and Shane Carter.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents Marvin Hubert and Bessie Ham Kerr; brothers, J. B. Kerr, Willis Kerr, Alfred Kerr, and Russell Kerr; sisters, Lydia Katribe, Zola Battle, and Mary Dee Marcom; and one son, Marvin Schuyler Kerr. He is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Fisher Kerr of Mont Belvieu; daughters, Emma Kerr Rush and husband Jim of Tarkington, Donna Kerr Schlabach of Bellville, and Ouida Kerr White and husband Steve of Mont Belvieu; son, Ricki Kerr of Splendora; eleven grandchildren, Veta Schlabach Johnston and husband Chris of Mont Belvieu, Leta Schlabach Carter and husband Shane of Mont Belvieu, Litton Schlabach of Bellville, Toby White, Tony White and wife Genell and Trevor White, all of Mont Belvieu; Emily Brady, Kala Workman and husband Jim, and Chuck Ferdinandsten, all of Louisiana, and Nicki Kerr Ferguson and husband Shawn, Wendy Bowden Guptill and husband Wayne, all of Splendora; twenty five great grandchildren; sister, Grace Miller of Baytown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Donald “Papaw” Kerr loved to serve the Lord and tell others of His great doings. Papaw enjoyed teaching Sunday School and playing the guitar and French harp at Church and family functions. He will be severely missed.
