

Dorothy L. Ping, 83, of Baytown, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, April 27, 2005 after a brief illness. She was born July 8, 1921, in Tenaha, Texas, to Allen and Rena Lee Samford. She was a long time resident of Baytown and was retired from General Telephone Company after many years of service. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and a member of the Rebekah Group of United Methodist Women.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William R. (Bill) Ping, one brother, Jeff Stamford, and three sisters, Vina Spears, Ruth Templin, and Mary Bachman.
She is survived by her sister, Ruby McMinn of Houston; nieces, Dorothy Pannell and husband Monte of Chillicothe, Jean Bowlin and husband Jimmy of East Bernard, Kay Knight and husband Joe of Tenaha, and Patty Vaughn and husband Eddie of Plano; nephews, Jeff Samford and wife Karen of Plano, Tom Spears and wife JoAnn of Laughton, Oklahoma, Henry Samford and wife Peggy of Beaumont, Robert Templin and wife Daphne of Nacogdoches, Ted Ping and wife Pat of McKinney, Tony Ping and wife Mary Beth of Missouri City, and Tim Ping and wife Catherine of Richmond. She is also survived by numerous great nephews, great nieces, and friends.
Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 30, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Ken Goodell and Rev. Billy Freeman. Graveside services will be held at 4:30 p.m. at Ramah Cemetery in Tenaha, Texas.
Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Knight, Jimmy Bowlin, Robert Templin, Henry Samford, Kyle Knight, and John Bowlin.
