Edward Sylvester Fuquay

Edward Sylvester Fuquay, age 91, of La Porte, Texas passed away on January 7, 2019. He attended Bossy High School. Edward joined the Merchant Marines and served from 1941-1945. He then went into the Air Force at Barksdale AFB in Louisiana. He was honorably discharged as Staff Sgt in 1949. Edward entered AnP school in 1957 where he graduated Emery Riddle in 1959. Edward hired in at Lake Central Airlines, which became U.S. Air. He retired and moving to Texas May 1990.

He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, supported St. Judes, St. Josephs Indian School, and the SPCA. He loved spending time with family and grandchildren, airplanes, reading the newspaper, loved his dogs and watching “World’s Dumbest” on t.v.

Edward was preceded in death by his mother, Pauline Reckor Fuquay, father Frank Fuquay, brother Frank Fuquay, Sister Ruth Fuquay Ballard, best friend Edward Townsend, “Tex”, and William Townsend, “Bill”.

He was survived by his sister Pat Fuquay Blankenship, nephews Jack Ballard and wife, Rose Ballard, Bruce Blankenship, Gary Blankenship, sister Doris Townsend, children Wayne Townsend, Angel Wheeless, Eddie Townsend and Tina Keene, Shelia Townsend and fiancé Brooks Straub, Ginny Whitworth and husband John Whitworth, grandchildren Billy Townsend, Echo Wheeless, Julio Compean, Skye Wheeless, Penny Wheeless and Chris Valadez, JJ Whitworth, Dewey Townsend, Nicole Holston, Hailey Townsend, Christopher Townsend, Huntyr Martinez. Also survived by great grandchildren LeAnn Townsend, Matt Townsend, Dezstyni Compean, Izabelle Compean, Julio Jr. Compean, Waelon Holston, Nyla Townsend, Jax and Oliva Valadez.

A visitation will be held for Edward Fuquay on Friday, January 11, 2019 from 12 pm – 2 pm at Earthman Baytown Funeral Home. The funeral service will be directly after the visitation at 2 pm, with interment following at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Baytown.

Pallbearers: Jack Ballard, Wayne Townsend, Eddie Townsend, John Whitworth, JJ Whitworth, Dewey Townsend with honorary pallbearer being Christopher Townsend.
