Ellen Elizabeth Sowders

Ellen Elizabeth Sowders, 85, of Baytown was born October 12, 1930, in Pelly and passed away Thursday, February 11, 2016, in Baytown. She enjoyed traveling with her late husband in their motorhome and doing genealogy research. She was a member of Eastside Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, John Earl Sowders; parents, Jesse and Ida Sjolander Stainer; and brother, Jesse Ray Stainer. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Earl Ray and Sharon Sowders of Mont Belvieu; daughter and son-in-law, Carol Lynn and Michael Sullivan of Baytown; grandchildren and their spouses, Elizabeth and Dean Hebert, Kevin and Melissa Meadows, John and Amy Meadows, Nathan and Stacy Sullivan, Mindy and Shawn Sitton, Holly and Brian Guidry, Richard Bevins, Theresa Fitzhenry, John Greenlea, and Rudy Torres, Jr.; great grandchildren, Crystal and Jason Pollard, Madison Pyle, Stephen, Hazel, Ian, and Abigail Meadows, Allison, Emma, and Everlee Sullivan, Ty, Kyle, Kara, and Seth Sitton, and Brayden Ray and Savannah Guidry; and great great grandchildren, Madilyn Elizabeth Day and Jaelyn Nicole Pollard.

Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Zeke Flores officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Shawn Sitton, Brian Guidry, Dean Hebert, and Kevin, John, and Ian Meadows.
