Ervin "Outlaw" Payne McNees, 91, was born November 9, 1934, in Hereford, Texas, and passed away May 8, 2026. A longtime resident of Baytown, Texas, Ervin’s life was marked by steady devotion, the kind of honest character and hard-working spirit that quietly strengthens a family and leaves a community better for having known him.
Ervin found joy in the simple pleasures that made ordinary days feel rich. He loved bowling and proudly scored two perfect games—an achievement that spoke to his persistence and the satisfaction he took in doing things well. At home, he could often be found enjoying western shows, especially those starring John Wayne, drawn to stories where integrity mattered and a person’s word still meant something.
Ervin was also a dedicated member of the masonic Lodge, where he received recognition for 50 years of membership—an enduring commitment that reflected the steady, principled way he showed up for the people and traditions he valued.
Ervin is survived by his wife, Glynaria, and his son, Robert McNees.
