Esther C. Zamora

Esther C. Zamora, 93, of Baytown was born April 24, 1914 in Pharr and passed away Monday, January 21, 2008 in a local hospital. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and enjoyed gardening, ceramics, and visiting with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dionicio and Luz Juarez Contreras; father-in-law and mother-in-law, J. F. and Elizabeth A. Zamora; husband, Thomas G. Zamora; brothers and sister-in-law, Pantaleon and Criselda Contreras and Mike Contreras; sisters and brothers-in-law, Rosa C. and Nicolas Villanueva, Elisa and Gumecindo Zuniga, Artemio Sandoval, and Ricardo Sanchez; and brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-law, Archie Zamora, Henry and Lucille Zamora, Charlie and Lucy Zamora, Ernesto and Toni Zamora, Tito Zamora, Myrtle and David Treviso Sr., and Jose Moreno. She is survived by her son and his girlfriend, Thomas G. Zamora II and Edith Newman Tillman of Baytown; daughter and son-in-law, Laurie Ann and Steven Bestwick of Ventura, CA; sisters, Magdalena Sandoval and Maria Luisa Sanchez, both of Pharr; grandchildren, Kirstina and Heather Bestwick, both of Ventura, CA; sisters-in-law, Virginia Moreno of Baytown and Wanda Zamora of Pearland; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Felipe Garcia, Nick Anders, Romeo Sanchez, Steve Bestwick, Ricardo Sanchez Jr., and Willie Moreno Jr.

Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be Friday, January 25, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Dwight Canizares officiating. Burial will follow at White Cemetery in Highlands.
