September 30, 1929 – April 5, 2026
It is with deep love and heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Evelyn Virginia Malone, age 96, who passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026. Born on September 30, 1929, in Shreveport, Louisiana, she was raised in Barbers Hill, Texas, and later made her home in Baytown, where she built a life defined by family, faith, and an extraordinary career.
Virginia was a true trailblazer in real estate, becoming one of the first women in Texas to earn her Real Estate Broker’s license in March of 1957. Over a remarkable career spanning 65 years, she helped thousands of clients throughout Baytown and the surrounding areas with both residential and commercial transactions. Known for her integrity, professionalism, and dedication, she earned numerous accolades and the respect of colleagues and clients alike. She continued working with passion until her retirement in May of 2022, proudly passing her life’s work on to the next generation.
A woman of quiet strength and deep compassion, Virginia’s greatest joy was her family. She always placed their needs above her own, creating a home filled with warmth, guidance, and unwavering love. She had a special place in her heart for her beloved schnauzer, Shultzie, who was truly her number one companion and brought her endless comfort and joy.
In her spare time, she enjoyed needlepoint and quilting, though she often said she never had enough time to devote to the hobbies she loved. She also spent her early years faithfully attending Memorial Baptist Church, where her quiet devotion and presence were a meaningful part of her life.
She is lovingly remembered by her son, Roland David Malone, Jr.; her nephew, Jeffrey Lynn Walters, whom she raised as her own, and his partner, Jessie Martinez; her niece, Sandra Lee Bransford and her husband, Jesse; her nephew, Robert Burl Walters; her nieces Melissa Cherry and her husband, Darrell, Hollie Rasberry and her husband, Brent, and Jessica Carley and her husband, Preston; her nephew, Laird Ray Walters, Jr.; as well as many extended nieces, nephews, great-grandnieces, great-grandnephews, and additional family members and dear friends whose lives she touched deeply.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lydia and Harry Scarborough; her husband, Roland David Malone; her sister, Wanda Ann Walters; her nephews, Larid Ray Walters and Anthony Paul Walters; and her grandnieces, Teri Jayne Anderson and Crystal Ann McDowell.
Virginia’s legacy lives on through the countless lives she impacted, the values she instilled, and the love she gave so freely. She will be deeply missed, but forever remembered with love and gratitude.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 13, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Earthman’s Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Cedarcrest Cemetery for family and close friends.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to St. James House for making her final year so comfortable. Special thanks to Anita and Valarie for their constant care, compassion, and kindness.
