

Fred Ector Herring, 76, of Baytown, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2006. He was born February 3, 1930 in Stevens, Arkansas. He received his B.A. degree from East Texas State, later he received his Masters Degree from Stephen F. Austin University. Previously, he had been a teacher and football and baseball coach for South Park High School in Beaumont for 14 years. Later he retired from Goose Creek I.S.D.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir. He also was a member of The Bayshore Wagonwheels, and played Bridge weekly with a local Bridge club.
He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Pearl Herring.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy Gene Herring; children, Pat Herring, Mike Herring, Donna Lintz, Carol Johnson; sister, Billie Jean Dodson; brother, John Gardner Herring; grandchildren, Jessie Herring, Jake Herring, Jesse Herring, Brad Lintz, and Whitney Lintz.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday 11:00 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 304 N. Pruett, in Baytown, officiated by Rev. Karl Tewold and Rev. Ken Goodell. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Whittington Cemetery in Devers, TX, located ¾ mile off HWY 90 on Rice Belt Road (CR 105).
Serving as pallbearers will be Pete Lintz, Brad Lintz, Kyle Collins, Steve Turner, Rob Davis, and Gary Bruns.
