George Wayne DeLaCerda heard the voice of his heavenly father to return home the morning of April 28th. His loving heart was over tired and needed rest. George’s death was unexpected by his family and all who loved and knew him. He was born in Beaumont, Texas on July 1, 1944 to Ellis and Mattie DeLaCerda. He moved to live with his wife who is a native of Baytown in 1987. After the birth of his last child he decided that Baytown was indeed his home, and home was where his heart beat so lovingly. He was loved by more than he would have ever imagined. George was a veteran of the United States Navy. He loved to talk about his service time in the navy. He was a Chief Gunneries Mate on the Destroyer USS Boyd. He was a hard worker in the industrial coatings business. He worked in the Beaumont Shipyard for a few years welding and sandblasting finally following in his father’s footsteps into the industrial coatings industry. George is preceded in death by his father and mother Ellis and Mattie DeLaCerda, and three grandchildren Lauren, Kyle, and Conner Harwell. He is survived by the love of his life Susan Gail Cleveland DeLaCerda of Baytown. He is also survived by four children whom he adored more than life itself. Four grandchildren Ry Alyn and Hunter Logan DeLacerda also of Depew Oklahoma, and Adrian Joseph and Evan Mathew Harwell of Wichita, Kansas. He is also survived by two sisters, Mary Arnold and spouse George Arnold, and Dorothy and Jack Fitzsimmons all of Beaumont, Texas. Other family surviving George is his mother-in-law who he loved as his own mother Jo Nell Cleveland of Baytown, sister-in-law Cynthia Ann Cleveland Potts, and his brother-in-law Garnett Cleveland Jr. who he loved as his own brother, and wife Lynn Cleveland. Many, many nieces and nephew far to many to list who he loved with all his heart and soul. Special friends; Carroll Harvey, Isreal Garza, Red Renolds, Terry Dodd, Steve Scott, and Richard McGinty. There will be visitation at Navarre Funeral Home on Saturday from 6-8, and a Celebration of his life with a graveside military service at 10 a.m. at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Sunday morning George’s favorite day of the week. There will be a Memorial Fund set up at Compass Bank on Baker Road ph#713-867-2114. George has left behind many broken hearts, but we are all so thank for to the Lord that George is having a wonderful time reunited with his family in heaven. Especially his father-in-law Garentt Cleveland Sr as they are fishing by the tree of life at the crystal. I will not say goodbye to the love of my life, but that I will see you again. I will never love another for my heart is with my love forever and ever.
