

Gilbert Salinas, 83, of Baytown, Texas, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, July 19, 2025, in Baytown. He was born on August 21, 1941, in San Luis, Potosi Mexico, to the late Inocencio Cerino Salinas and Encarnacion Lopez. Gilbert proudly graduated from Robert E. Lee High School, in Baytown, the class of 1961. Before he was married, he enlisted in the US Army and later served in the Texas National Guard for seven years. In 1965, at the young age of 23, he married the love of his life Alma Coy, where they spent the next 60 years together. He was dedicated to his faith in God and was a parishioner of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Gilbert pursued many interests, some of which included camping, traveling and tinkering in the shop. He was a talented handyman who enjoyed helping others making repairs in the community, whether it was at the church or for a neighbor. Gilbert was extremely giving and always made himself available to anyone in need. He was grateful for the opportunity to learn under Jesse Garcia and Canuto Delgado. One of Gilbert’s passions was managing the softball team, the Baytown Cardinals, where he would spend countless hours managing the team. Above all, his joy came from spending time with his family.
Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings Guadalupe Ortiz, Rodolfo Salinas Sr., and Frank Salinas; along with his numerous nieces and nephews. He leaves behind to cherish his loving memory his beloved wife Alma Coy Salinas; his children Jamie Salinas and wife Lisa, David Salinas, and Miranda Garcia and husband Abraham; his grandchildren Bianca Salinas, Drake Salinas, Kristen Gibbons, Lauren Garcia, and Angelina Garcia, his numerous nieces and nephews, along with a host of other loving relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held at Earthman Baytown Funeral Home, located at 3919 Garth Road, Baytown, Texas, 77521, on July 30, 2025, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A rosary will take place at the same location on July 30, 2025, from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm.The funeral mass will be conducted at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, situated at 1134 Beech Street, Baytown, Texas, 77520, on July 31, 2025, starting at 11:00 am.
