Grace Elizabeth Robson Hargrave, age 94, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 23, 2005. Grace was born on November 17, 1910, in Gulfport Mississippi to Hattie and Robert Robson. Grace spent most of her youth in Lake Charles, Louisiana, moving to Goose Creek, now Baytown, in 1926, when her father opened Robson’s Jewelry Store. Grace attended Mary Hardin Baylor, returning to work with her father in the jewelry store. In 1940, at Trinity Episcopal Church, Grace married her true love, Norman D. Hargrave, on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, and they were married for 50 years until his death in 1990. Grace and Norman worked together as a team as proprietors of Robson’s Jewelers for all of their married life.
As her name implies, Grace was a very gracious lady. She loved the jewelry business, she loved people, and always enjoyed a good party. While Grace was an outstanding business woman, she was a dedicated homemaker for her family. She was an outstanding cook and enjoyed entertaining at home.
Grace was a founding member of Trinity Episcopal Church, a founding member of Goose Creek Country Club, a 60 year member of PEO Sisterhood, and a long standing member of the Bay Area Heritage Society.
In death, Grace was reunited with her husband, Norman, her brother, Robert Robson, and her parents. Grace is survived by her children, Robert L. Hargrave and Norman R. Hargrave and wife Tina, grandchildren, Kathy de la Vergne and husband Hugues, and Paul Douglas Hargrave, great grandchildren, Paul Nicholas Hargrave and Lauren de la Vergne, sisters, Mary Marder, Evelyn Robson, and Esther Price, sister-in-law, Lois Robson, nephews, Edward Robson, John Marder, Robert Marder, and Tom Price, nieces, Pam, Mary Ann, Carol, and Linda Price, first cousins, Bill and Don Richardson, and many other relatives and friends.
