I did not realize that he past away until I googled his name looking for a copy of a western book he might have published.  His nephew and my best friend growing up is Kenneth.  Uncle Harvey always told us never to sit down without a something to read.  That advice has stayed with me ever since.  Your are missed Uncle Harvey.

I occasionally look back on my time at KPLC News in the early '70s and think fondly of Harvey. I Googled his name today and learned of his passing. During those years, he was a great friend and a valuable mentor.  He was an exceptionally kind and witty guy.  Knowing him made an indelible mark on my life.

Although I didn't know Mr. Honsinger, I remember Lee Janot always talking to him during her afternoon TV show back in the '60s.  Also, I knew his son, Harvey Paul Honsinger from Mrs. Walker's kindergarten and at Oak Park Elem. and Oak Park Jr. High.  Condolences to the family on Mr. Honsinger's passing.

I worked with Harvey at the LA Dept of Probation and Parole for four years.  During that time he was a supervsior over the agents.  He was always so sweet.  While I was there he encouraged me complete my degree which I was working on at night.  I felt like he really supported my dream to earn my degree.  The think I remember the most about him is that he never ever had a negative thing to say about his wife.  He always spoke so lovingly of her that I made me conscious of how I want to treat my own spouse.  Thanks for all your support.  You will be missed.  Catherine Morgan Sikora (Orange TX)

I was Harvey's teacher when he was in high school in Barbers Hill.  And I often saw him at many reunion events.  He was always a pleasant and congenial fellow.  Condolences to his family.

I got to know Harvey through the Bayou Writers' Group. He became a very good friend. When I think of him, I can't help but think of some of the heroes of yesterday, because in mind, that's how I see Harvey--a real hero-type. I liked his easy laughter, good sense of humor and appreciated his sage advice and wisdom. I guess exceptional is the key word. I'll miss him.

I was 12 years old when I moved to Barbers Hill. I lived on the same street about 6 doors down and across the street from Harvey and his family. I was 2 years older than Harvey, but we shared a love of neat toys of the day like Erector sets, electric trains and the like. We could play for hours with those things. I recall going to his grandfather, Quinton Barber's place on the bayshore with Harvey and his family on more than one occasion. They were such a nice welcoming family and we went to the same church. My great-grandfather, Joseph Kilgore was one of the founders of the Methodist Church there. He had a large farm down toward Cedar Bayou.  The world has lost an exceptional person in Harvey. He will be missed by anyone that ever knew him.

I worked with Harvey in the 60's at KPLC TV.  He was a good friend to me during that period of my life.  He will be missed.

I am so sorry for your loss. Knowing Harvey has been one of the greatest treasures of my life. We met at the Bayou Writers Group--he was always so kind and supportive. I read many of his musings and am proud to own an autographed copy of "Fire Hair." I moved to Oklahoma three years ago and won't be able to pay my respects in person but I will surely have Harvey and each of you in my heart and prayers.
