

Jack Hinton Havis, 88, of Brenham, formerly Baytown was born January 3, 1925 in Pelly and passed away Saturday, April 27, 2013 in Brenham. He was a 1942 graduate of Cedar Bayou High School and was a U. S. Army Air Force WWII veteran. He attended Lee College and retired from Lubrizol Corp. in 1986 with 32 years of service in their Deer Park and Bay Port plants. After retirement, he enjoyed his membership in the Bayshore Fine Rides and the Lubrizol Legends. He loved to fish, hunt, and tend to his lawn and backyard garden and his fruit trees and hibiscus plants but cream peas were his specialty.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hinton and Bonnie Holleman Havis. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Janice Bishop Havis of Brenham; sons and daughter-in-law, Dwayne and Celeste Havis of Austin and Neal Havis of Brenham; special sister-in-law, Nan Bishop Owens; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Dalton Clanton of Baytown and their daughter and son-in-law, Alecia and Edwin Boxley and their family.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Tuesday, April 30, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Rev. Carol Turner officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.
Serving as pallbearers will be Edwin Baxley, Shaun Baxley, David LaGrange, Wally Vosloh, Lanny Ray, and Clint Gilbert. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim McLean, Ed White, George Owens, and Dalton Clanton.
