Jack was born on May 22, 1954 to Murley and Peggy Pitcock in Wichita Falls, Texas. After attending high school in Bridgeport, Jack attended college at Tarleton State University in Stephenville where he studied music education for 2 years.
He began working for the city of Baytown Fire Department in November 1979. During his time with the department, he was instrumental in setting up the city of Baytown ambulance services in 1986. He directed the ambulance services until his retirement in 2006. After retirement he opened a small business, Promedic Consultants, providing billing and consulting services for small ambulance companies.
In 1973 Jack met the love of his life, Loretta Rab, in Stephenville, Texas. They were married on September 12, 1975 and had their son, Jack Randel Pitcock II. Jack put family first, always, and was a dedicated husband and father. He was blessed to have three granddaughters later in life. Time spent with “Peepaw” was always very special for Jack because his granddaughters were his heart and joy.
Jack Pitcock had many hobbies. He was an avid scuba diver until receiving a pacemaker. He enjoyed talking on Ham Radios and was part of the Texas Radio Operators group and many others. He enjoyed shooting pistols, playing and working with computers, and always had the newest gadgets. He loved to travel. He was able to travel to most of the states. Highlights of traveling were the cruises with his wife to Alaska and through the Panama Canal.
Jack was a very talented musician. Music was one of his biggest passions. An avid trombone player, he spent many hours playing in a couple of local jazz bands, for the Baytown Symphony Orchestra and a Lone Star College Jazz Band.
Anyone who knew Jack, knew that he was the most loving father, husband and friend anyone could ask for. He was preceded in death by his parents, Murley Pitcock and Peggy Bryant Pitcock. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Loretta Pitcock of Baytown, his son and daughter in law; Jack and Jocelyn Pitcock of Huntsville; three granddaughters Kaylie, Kourtney, and Karolyn Pitcock all from Huntsville; brother and sister in law, Mark and Christa PItcock of Murray, KY; nephew David Pitcock of Fort Worth; niece and family Amanda and Dan Goldstein of Dallas; and numerous other family and friends.
