

Jackie Cleveland Griffis, a beloved resident of Cove, Texas, passed away on October 23, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on September 19, 1951, in Bastrop, Louisiana, he was the son of JC Griffis and Lilly Pearl Morgan Griffis.
Jackie was a dedicated painter for Brown and Root and Austin Industrial, where he made a significant impact with his work. His passion extended beyond his career, as he was deeply involved in his community. Starting with Cove Security, where he patrolled the city protecting the community. Jackie also served on the Cove City Council and dedicated 30 years as a volunteer firefighter and EMS Ambulance driver, showcasing his commitment to helping others.
A true social butterfly, Jackie had a love for old cars and cowboy movies. He was known for his infectious smile and laughter, never meeting a stranger, as everyone he encountered was considered a friend.
Jackie was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Griffis; his parents; his brothers, Floyd Griffis and Charlie Griffis; and by his sisters, Frances Frisby, Margie Gardner, and Connie Scroggins.
He is survived by his daughter, April Johnson; granddaughter, Aly Griffis; great-granddaughter, Bella Madison; by his brothers, Pete Griffis and Joe Griffis; and many cousins, family, and friends who will miss him dearly.
Visitation will be held at Navarre Funeral Home, located at 2444 Rollingbrook Drive, Baytown, TX, on Thursday, October 30, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Funeral service will take place at Cove Church of Christ, 7831 FM 565, Cove, TX, on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 1:00 pm. The committal will follow at Clark Cemetery, 1028 Maley Rd, Cove, TX, at 2:30 pm.
