

Husband and wife of 56 years, James Robert ""Hootie"" Hall, 75, and Ethel Lucille Hall, 73, of Dayton passed away Sunday, September 20, 2015. They were both born in Baytown and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School, James graduating in 1958 and Ethel in 1959 and were members of Old River Baptist Church. James was born January 5, 1940, and retired from Exxon Chemical Company and was a member of the Cedar Bayou Masonic Lodge #321. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in his garden, and telling stories. Ethel was born March 3, 1942, and was a retired union meat wrapper, having worked in various retail grocery stores in Baytown. She was an excellent cook who enjoyed working in her yard, volunteering at her church, and loved doing things for others.
James was preceded in death by his parents, James E. and Velma Hall. Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, Hollie and Emma Drake and brother, Robert Drake. They are survived by their sons and daughters-in-law, Doug and Lucinda Hall of Baytown and Mike and Cheryl Hall of Cove; grandchildren, Ryan Hall, Harrison and Kara Dentler, Nolan Hall, and Shelby Hall; and great grandson, Brooks Dentler. James is also survived by his brother, Walter Hall of The Woodlands and sisters, Shirley Deteau of Longview and Wanda Carouthers of Spring. Ethel is also survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Wyatt and Janie Drake of Baytown and Hollie and Wynona Drake of Cleveland.
Their family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday, September 25, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at Old River Baptist Church, 12948 FM1409, Dayton, TX 77535, with Rev. Danny Biddy officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarcrest Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons and Mark Deteau, Brad Deteau, Randall Lansford, Dayne Hobbs, and Kelley Ferguson.
In lieu of usual remembrances, contributions may be made to Old River Baptist Church.
