

James was a proud member of Robert E. Lee High school class of 1956. He earned a business degree from Sam Houston State University in 1963. James worked his entire career at HL&P, retiring as a power consultant. He was a member of Saint Marks United Methodist Church. James loved God, his family and the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, an exceptional softball player and had a lifelong love of the game of Golf. He held a special place for the ""Wild Bunch"" and their rounds of golf each week. The time he spent with his grandchildren brought him the most joy. Of all the titles he received throughout his life, the one he cherished the most was ""Granddaddy.""
James was preceded in death by his parents, Travis William and Ollie Murrill Sterling and Aunt Cumi Wade. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Linda Sterling; son, Coleman Sterling; daughters, Stacey White and husband, Matthew, Elizabeth Killen and husband, James, Sandy Williams and husband, Danny; grandchildren, Cullen White, Avery White, Abigail Parker, Tanner Killen, Taylor Killen, Gage Williams and Cooper Williams.
A visitation will be held Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 10:00a.m. with funeral services to follow at 11:00 am at Navarre Funeral Home 2444 Rollingbrook Dr. Baytown TX 77521 with burial to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
