Born in Bryan, Texas on August 10, 1934, to Norman C. and Anna Lee Batten Bond. Jean was a woman of immense love, strength, and grace, whose life was a testament to her unwavering dedication to her family.
She was survived in death by her loving husband of 71 years, Ray Allen McCain. She is survived by her children, sons, Stuart and wife Pam McCain and Terry McCain; daughter, Sharon, and husband Dr. Hantz Hercule. She leaves behind seven grandchildren - Blake McCain & wife Lacy, Kyle McCain & wife Tiffany, Aaron Harvey, Sean and Skylor Somera, Hannah, and Halle Hercule; and 6 great grandchildren, all of whom were a source of immense joy in her life.
Jean graduated from Robert E Lee high school and was an active Brigadier. Jean was an active member of Cedar Bayou Grace Methodist Church and devoted Christian.
Jean worked as Secretary of Goose Creek Consolidated School District in the Stuart Career Center for 30 years, where she made many long-lasting friendships.
Jean cherished her friendships, developing them at each stage of her life with most of these lasting the remainder of her life. From phone call chats to joint family outings, weekly Tuesday night dinners with close friends, to class reunions, Jean was up for it all.
Jean loved traveling, reading, cross stitching and crocheting. She crocheted countless lap blankets for the ministry at Cedar Bayou Grace and made baby blankets for grandchildren and great grandchildren. One could say she should have owned stock in yarn! One of her favorite things was the different activities she was involved with at Cedar Bayou Grace and the many friends she made. She especially enjoyed watching God's critters outside her window. Ray religiously placed food on the back porch outside her window where numerous squirrels, raccoons and doves would have a great meal.
She loved her family and enjoyed the many wonderful times she had with all of them, including time on the Frio River, snow skiing, the deer lease and more.
The family will have many happy memories to remember our beloved Jean.
Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, October 16th at 11AM at Cedar Bayou Grace Methodist 3700 TX-146, Baytown, TX 77520.
