Jeannine Houghton

Jeannine Sherman Houghton, of Baytown, Texas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at the age of 92, at the RollingBrook Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. She was born in Pelly, Texas on October 24, 1929 to Lloyd and Adah Sherman; the first of seven children. Jeannine was the mother of five children, a long-time bookkeeper at Sears and worked for various jewelry stores prior to starting at Sears. She took pride in her work and her ability to provide for her family.

Jeannine was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Charles Sherman, her sister Marian Sherman, and her daughter Sharon Sapp.

She is survived by her children Maurice Smith, Debbie Gerza and her husband Terry, Jeri-Lynn Swenson and her husband Pete, and Lesley Houghton and his wife Robin; her brothers William, Ed, and Lonnie Sherman; her sister Norma Cook; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank all of Jeannine’s caretakers and the staff at RollingBrook Rehab for the love, endless coffee, and excellent care they provided to her. She and her family developed friendships during those many months and the kindness and care shown by the people at RollingBrook will not be forgotten.
