Jerry Kenneth Scott

Jerry Kenneth Scott walked with Jesus Jan. 16, 2012, after a long illness with cancer. He was born Dec. 22, 1940, to Era Bell and John Scott in Joaquin, TX. He grew up in Port Neches, and graduated from Port Neches High School in 1959. He served in the United States Air Force for four years, after which he went to work for Du Pont in Beaumont, TX. In 1965, he married Marilyn Ash Scott and they moved to Baytown. He worked for Du Pont in La Porte, TX, for 34 years until retirement, and they moved to Winnie, TX in 2005. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Winnie and American Legion Post 255.

As a dedicated father, he was a vital part with coaching, not only his two sons, but also several other young boys in all sports, with special attention in pee-wee football, little league baseball, basketball and track. His guidance and inspiration helped shape so many lives including his sons, Ken and Bobby, and his grandchildren, Autumn, Lorenzo, Carson and Irelynn. His life was spent dedicated to his family and many of his happiest moments were watching the ones who he had guided to succeed.

Jerry was a man of superior intellect especially in history and trivia with many a game of Trivial Pursuit won aboard cruise ships that he and his beloved wife of 46 years, enjoyed taking. Anyone that knew him knew that he was a kind, gentle, selfless and caring man. He is someone that influences, quietly, many people and will be missed greatly. A man to be admired and looked up to, his legacy will continue on in his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Scott of Winnie; son, Ken Scott and wife Racquel of Houston; son, Bob Scott and wife Kerry of Houston; grandchildren, Autumn Scott, Lorenzo Flores, Carson Scott and Irelynn Scott; brother, Charles Scott and wife Johnnie of Nederland; sister, Judy Johnson and husband R.T. of Bridge City; brother, Hubert Scott of Quinlin, TX, and blessed friends, Linda and Dan Connolly.
